Ivan Franko International Fund will start admission of the works and documents for obtaining of the Prize from January 15, 2017
From January 15, 2017 Ivan Franko International Fund has begun acceptance of the works and documents for obtaining of Ivan Franko International Prize.
We would like to underling that papers of researchers for obtaining of Ivan Franko International Fund are to be submitted by academic institutions. Papers which pretend to obtain the Prize have to be published in the year when beginning of submission of the documents to obtain the Prize was announced and two years before. Books must have ISBN. Scientific reviews and extended abstracts to the research papers recommended for participation in the competition for obtaining of the Prize should be in Ukrainian and English.
The following documents should be obligatory attached to the application for winning the Prize: decision of an academic institution or higher education institution to submit research paper for winning the Prize; certificate on the person whose research paper is submitted for winning the Prize; research paper: research, monograph, thesis, books, lecture series, collection of scientific publications in periodic editions, etc. submitted for winning the Prize; the scientific work shall be submitted in 3 printed PDF duplicates, with the right to send the scientific work to the Members of the Nomination Committee, Members of the Expert Council and Jury; the extended abstract to the scientific work being submitted for the Prize; personal written consent of the author (authors) of the scientific work to participate in the competition for the Prize.

We remind that the Prize has two nominations: for significant achievements (developments) in Ukrainian studies and for significant achievements (developments) in social and humanitarian sciences. The Prize is annual and is awarded on August 27 on the birth day of Ivan Franko. Winners of the Prize are awarded with monetary reward (in 2017 prize fund is 500 thousand UAH) and golden symbol of the winner.
We will be glad to see the research papers recommended by educational institution in the list of applicants for obtaining Ivan Franko International Fund.
Welcome to the opening of the museum-apartment of family of I. Franko in Kyiv
On Friday, November 25, at 12 p.m. is the scheduled date of opening of apartment-museum of Ivan Franko’s family in c. Kyiv (48 A Volodymyrska Str., apt. 15).
The museum is founded upon the initiative of Roland, the grandson of Ivan Franko. It is located in the apartment of forced deportation of Taras Franko’s (his father’s) family from Lviv in 1949 by the Soviet authorities.
The event will include the presentation of the apartment-museum, which partly reflects the family life of Taras Franko; there are represented the furniture, documents and works of Taras, Zinovia, Daria and Roland Franko. There will also be an exhibition dedicated to Ivan Franko’s children: Andrew, Peter, Taras and Ann, whose life is connected with Kyiv.
Guests can also visit an exhibition of art works by Taras Franko (son of Ivan Franko), see the photographs, manuscripts and documents from the family archive and personally talk to the grandson of the Great Kamenyar – Roland.

A lecture of the Laureate of Ivan Franko International Prize will be in the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University on November 17, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., at the Red Hall of University (2 Kotsjubynskyi Str.
Chernivtsi).
Аccording to the PROVISION on Ivan Franko International Prize, within six months after being awarded the Prize, winner shall deliver a lecture – a popular presentation of the contents of the research paper, which was awarded the Prize.
The first winner of the Prize in 2016, i.e., became Archbishop-Emeritus and of Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Cardinal of the Catholic Church His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar in nomination “For significant personal contribution to the development of social and humanitarian sciences” for the monograph “Andrey Sheptytsky Galician Metropolitan (1901-1944), a forerunner of ecumenism”.

The meeting of the Management Board of Ivan Franko International Fund will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the premises of the “Society for the Preservation of Historical Monuments” (c. Lviv, 40a Copernicus Str.).

Meeting of the International jury of the Ivan Franko International Prize
Ivan Franko International Fund will announce nominees for Prize named after Ivan Franko
Results of evaluation performed by the International Expert Council in relation to scientific papers, submitted to obtain the International Prize named after Ivan Franko, will be announced on Monday, July 11, 2016.
Experts shall select at most three scientific papers per each of nominations.
Five papers are presented in the nomination “For significant personal contribution to development of social and human sciences “:
- The monograph «In search jf Identity: Individual Myth in Artistic Works by Ivan Franko, Andrzej Chciuk, Bruno Schulz». Author: Victoria Durkalevych;
- The monograph: “The ethnological researches in Shevchenko Scientific Society in Lviv (1892-1940): historiography”. Author: Rostyslav Konta;
- The monograph “From Deportation to Deportation. Social and Political Life of the Ukrainians of Kholmshchyna and Pidlishia (1915-1947) Reserch. Memories. Documets. Authoring team: Yuriy Makar; Mykhailo Gorny; Vitaliy Makar. The first volume includes contribution of Anatoliy Saliuk;
- The monograph “Cultural Studies: Terminologikal Dictionary”. Author: Polina Gerchanivska;

We would like to remind that according to the Regulations “On International Expert Council of the International Prize named after І. Franko”, the members of the Expert Council apply own knowledge at selection of the candidates and compare papers claiming the Award, according to the following criteria:
- innovative and original approaches in the study;
- conceptuality, systematic and critical study;
- international context and level of scientific research.
Titles of most three works which, in the opinion of the Expert Council, fully meet the above criteria will be submitted to the International Jury.
Award winners will be determined during interdisciplinary scientific debates to be held in c. Vienna (Austria), August 4-5, 2016. Awarding of winners will be held on August 27, 2016 at homeland of Ivan Franko in c. Drohobych.
Events honoring the Memory of Ivan Franko in connection with the 100th anniversary of the death of Ivan Franko
The public presentation of the Mark of the Laureate of Ivan Franko International Prize will be held on Friday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (c. Lviv, 1 University str.).
The list of activities within event honoring the Memory of Ivan Franko in connection with the 100th anniversary of the death of the Great Kameniar includes the opening of the art exhibition of Taras Franko (son of Ivan Yakovych). The opening ceremony will start at 1.30 p.m.

- Volodymyr Melnyk, Ph.D., professor, Honored worker of science and technique of Ukraine, rector of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
