of Ivan Franko International Prize 2020 

Ihor Serdyuk was born on April 30, 1983 in the town of Khorol, Poltava region. Doctor of historical sciences, scholar and teacher. Since 2009, he has been working at Poltava National Pedagogical University named after V.G. Korolenko, co-editor of the historical portal historians.in.ua He is one of the leading scholars in Ukraine who develop a number of topics in the field of historical demography and history of childhood. He has continuously given open lectures and presentations on historical demography in universities and scientific institutions in Ukraine. Fellow of the International Humanitarians’ Association (2010-2011), the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the USA (2014, 2016) and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2020). He has participated in educational and scientific internships at the “Artes Liberales” faculty, University of Warsaw (2014, 2016), a number of summer schools and conferences.

Field of scientific interests: historical demography and urban studies of the Hetman region, social history; has been working recently on the study of children and childhood in Ukrainian traditional society.
