PROVISION About the Nomination Committees of Ivan Franko International Prize

1. General Provisions

1.1. Provision about the Nomination Committees of Ivan Franko International Prize (hereinafter –the Provision) was established to ensure the transparent and professional selection of applicants for obtaining of Ivan Franko International Prize.
1.2.This Provision establishes a professional and quantitative composition of the Nomination Committees of the Ivan Franko International Prize (hereinafter – the Nomination Committees), the procedure for appointment of members of the Nomination Committee and selection of the research papers for obtaining of Ivan Franko International Prize (hereinafter – the Prize).
13. The task of the Nomination Committee is to establish a specialized correspondence of the submitted research papers to the defined scientific disciplines, according to nominations of the Prize and the Provisions of Ivan Franko International Prize.
1.4. Provisions, changes and amendments thereto (if necessary) are to be approved by the Board of Ivan Franko International Fund.

2. Formation of the Nomination Committees

2.1. The Nomination Committees are formed by Ivan Franko International Fund (hereinafter the Fund) under the Provisions about Ivan Franko International Prize.
2.2. The Nomination Committees are formed at the proposal of members of the Board of the Fund.

3. Number of the Nomination Committees and their quantitative composition

3.1.The number of nomination committees shall be appointed by the Award Committee with account for the field of research and the research focus of the works submitted for the nomination.
3.2. Each Nomination Committee consists of 3 persons.

4. Requirements to members of the Nomination Committee

4.1. The Nomination Committee is formed exclusively of experts of one scientific discipline.
4.2. The members of the Nomination Committee shall have academic degree of Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D.) in specific specialties or higher and be independent in their assessments of applicants for obtaining of the Prize.

5. Selection of the research papers

5.1 After the end of acceptance of documents the Committee of the Prize immediately (within 3 days) transfers the research papers for examination of the members of the Nomination Committee.
5.2. The members of the Nomination Committee can work remotely. In this case the Committee of the Prize sends scanned copies or electronic versions of the research papers to the members of the Nomination Committee via email.
5.3. The members of the Nomination Committee within 21 days of receipt of the research papers from the Committee of the Prize should provide their conclusions about the conformity of the submitted research papers to the certain scientific disciplines which correspond to the nominations of the Prize and the Provision about Ivan Franko International Prize.

6. Selection criteria for applicants for obtaining of the Prize

6.1. The members of the Nomination Committee get acquainted with the research papers submitted for obtaining of the Award, and establish the correspondence of these works to a particular scientific discipline.
6.2. If a research paper belongs to disciplines of the social and humanitarian sphere or Ukrainian studies, the members of the Nomination Committee recommend it to be examined by the International Council of Experts.
6.3. If a research paper work is interdisciplinary, members of the Nomination Committee indicate this fact in their conclusion and give recommendations about its further participation in the competition for obtaining of the Prize.
6.4. In the event when a research paper does not belong to disciplines of the social and humanitarian sphere or Ukrainian studies, such papers are returned to the Committee of the Prize without recommendation about further participation for obtaining of the Prize.
6.5. In the event when conclusions of members of the Nomination Committee differ, the research paper which received a positive conclusion  are admitted to participate in the Prize if the positive conclusion was received at least from three members of the Nomination Committee.
6.6. The papers admitted by the Nomination Committee to participate in the competition for obtaining of the Prize are transferred for examination of the International Council of Experts.
6.7. After examination of the research paper which was received for awarding of the Prize, each member of the Nomination Committee sends at e-mail of the Committee of the Prize frankofund@ukr.net the conclusion in accordance with the established example: a member of the Nomination Committee – “specify”; : Name and academic degree – “specify”; research paper – “specify the name” conclusion (select) – “corresponds,” “does not correspond.” Members of the Nomination Committee can add comments to the research papers submitted for obtaining of the Prize.

7. Rights and obligations of members of the Nomination Committee

7.1. Members of the Nomination Committee will receive invitation to the ceremony of award of the winners of Ivan Franko International Prize.
7.2. Members of the Nomination Committee shall submit candidates to the International Council of Experts.
7.3. Members of the Nomination Committee can comment their activity in the committee after the final declaration of the International Jury about determination of winners of the Prize.
7.4. Members of the Nomination Committee may not disclose information about applicants for obtaining of the Prize, as well as without permission of authors of the research papers submitted for obtaining of the Prize; to copy, publish or use the research papers or their fragments.
7.5. Members of the Nomination Committee are working on a volunteer basis.
